This translated to a considerable increase of about 14.92%. in the total number of patents granted in 2018, Delhi received the maximum grants followed by Chennai, that is in Chennai there were 4384 patent grants in 2018 and also there is 30.9% increase in Chennai in patent grants in 2018 in comparison to 2017. The highest increase among Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata. The process of Application examination also increased by 52.78% in Chennai in 2018 in comparison to 2017. 794 patent applications were filed in Chennai in 2018. The exponential increase in the trend of patent filing in Chennai, an has hence prompted an expansion in the region .
